Default timing belt issues?

My timing belt is riding off the cams by about 1/4 of an inch. What did I do wrong? I have retensioned the belt over and over but it always moves out about 1/4" and rubs on my timing belt cover? My car is a 2001 GSR with a built bottom end and the head is done with all Ferrea valve train. I tried both the stock cam gears and aftermarket with no change in the position. Someone please help.

how would that make it slide off the cams 1/4"? The timing is dead on as I have redone it over and over to try and fix the problem

okay. what do you mean by 1/4". if you are referring to slack then you may need pulley up on the tensioner a bit instead of relying on the weak spring to tension it. aftermarket cam sprockets help in adjusting slack a bit. i never had trouble installing the t-belt. you may want to double check you got the right belt. well good luck

no the belt is tight. Instead of riding totally on the cams, the belt is 1/4" off the outside of the cams.

Umm. Push it back in. Did you forget to put the ring like thingy back on the crank gear?

Yeah, check that big washer behind the crank pulley. It's designed to keep the t-belt from sliding out, just like you're describing.
