Default Timing Belt Issue??

Okay well, my car one day coming off the hwy.. started to run like ****, the whole chassis was shaking.

Now.. after a weekend of diagnosising I couldn't really find the problem, I was pretty confused.. did a compression test.. to my wonders cyl 1 read 125, cyl 3 read 140psi, or something around there. Needless to say I was baffled (it just read 180psi a month ago) I immediately thought my timing was way off. So I took off the timing belt cover and VC to check the cam gears if they skipped a tooth. I set them both to UP (which btw looked like they were off 1/2 a tooth), so I look down at the crank pulley marks and what do I see?

Looks like its at 8-10 degrees when it should be at the white mark (0BTDC). Now I'm just looking for final confirmation. Did my TB skip a few teeth or what? I'm 99.9% sure but its always nice to confirm these things before I do a tear down.

p.s. I hope I bent a valve maybe this is a sign that a b20vtec is on the way:evil:

actually on second thought, i hope I didn't bend a valve lol

The more I think about it, the more I don't want to admit it, but I really think it bent a valve. Compression should still be the same at 10degrees off, atleast I assume

well i have a really stupid problem.. my timming belt broke and when i was trying to get the stupid thing off i realized i need to get a air hammer to get the bolt off of the lower cam.. but i used a 300lbs compresser and a $1200 gun to make sure it would come off but it doesnt budge i think the screw and the bolt melted together cuz with 250 psi on it< it should either breaks off or come off... got any seggestions?

I don't get it now. First, it was a $1200 compressor pushing 300lb at 250 psi, now it's a 300lb compressor pushing 250 psi and a $1200 gun. What's next?

1st off its called a Main Crank Pulley....or MCP for short...and forget all you dam $1000's of air tools...go get the honda-tool from snapon for like $50....2 1/2" ratchets and a pipe extension....then go to town

ps....to brake is to stop or slow down....to break is to destroy something....newbs

Reset your cam timing and see if it cures the problem..duh..
If you have adjustable gears check if they have moved.Your compression can be low if the cam timing is off.

thanks for hi-jacking dickwad.

Either way, I don't think I bent my valves after talking with a tech he said my compression would be a lot lower than 130psi if i had a bent valve. Either way I'll be doing the TB and tensioner whenever my damn crank holder tool comes in the mail

Anytime. FIY, it was distortionexile who hi-jacked your thread. I was just pointing out the inconsistencies in his posts.
