Default Timing belt or chain

I've been hearing conflicting things from people. Do civics.run with a timing belt or timing chain? Were they once one abd then were switched to thee other? If so, what year was the switch?

Depends what engine. Most are belts but k series have chains and I believe j series also uses a chain

civics here switched over to chains in 01. k series has a chain.

Depends what model civic though my 01 ex has a belt an si would have a chain

sorry, you're right. 06 is when everything went over to a chain. 01+ don't even exist in my own head. lol

So nothing before 06 had a chain? Or only j & k series motors had them

Correct only j & k series had them

F20c and f22c also have chains. Not to be confused with the earlier f series.

F and K series have chains

everything else is belt.
