throw out berring? new transmission?
i baught a 95 integra ls about a month ago, there was a noise comming from the trans when your gear in 1st and second, and a little bit in third, gettting lighter as you go up. they said it was a 300$ throw out berring job which i belived, but when i went to get it fixed, they told me i needed a whole new transmission. im not a mechanic so i dont know what i should do, can anyone advise?
(edit) forgot to mention, the shop wants 1500 parts and labor for a new trans with low miles, and that includes a new clutch since its all just about the same labor. is this a good price? (im a newb and have noone else to ask, please dont flame)

Does the noise go away you depress the clutch pedal?
It's either throwout or input shaft bearing, neither of which should signifiy just by sound that you need a new transmission
to the shop that is suggesting that.

well the shop had mentioned alot of other things which i forgot to mention.. a cupple berring names, and they said the trans had a hole on the bottom that had a cheap weld but was still leaking fluid. and yes the noise does go away when i clutch.
Oh boy. This is a tough one. Hard to tell if the shop is dicking you around and what not, and just telling you various things that may not be an issue.
More than likely, it could be an input (main) shaft bearing. Even a counter shaft bearing.
If there is another shop around your area that you can take it to for diagnosis, I would do that.

oh i also forgot to mention, i hope this will help but another detail.. when the cars warming up, itll rev at like 1800 to warm while im holding the clutch. if i let go of the clutch it will drop like 2 or 300 and a slight grindish sound will start.
