Throttle sticking open at WOT and bouncing off redline...
I have had this very occasional problem where the throttle will stick open to WOT. The only way to correct the problem is to shut the car off. Well it happened yesterday and after I shut it off and restarted it, it would start up at WOT. I restarted 4 times and each time it stuck open to WOT. I have no ECU codes whatsoever and I am really lost as to what the problem might be. The throttle body plates were not stuck open after I started it up, so it wasn't a stuck plate or cable. Help.
Have you tried cleaning out your IAC??? When you say it gets stuck at WOT, is it reved up all the way bouncing off the limiter (if you have one)... If so then I my guess is it probably isn't an IAC problem... I would check for any vacuum leaks and maybe your TPS voltage... Good Luck

I haven't tried cleaning out the IACV, but yes when it revs, it sticks at the rev limiter and will not stop revving until I shut the car off. So do you think this could be a TPS problem?

Damn, that's crazy... I've never seen that before... It would take a big vacuum leak and your TPS voltage to be off by a lot for that to happen... The TPS alone shouldn't affect it... I'll think about it more, again Good Luck
Have you taken a peek at the throttle body?
Mechanically...
Is the cable attached correctly and moving the plate?
Is the plate stuck because of oil residue?

yes, the butterfly HAS to be open to let that much air in
the IACV dosent leak enough air in to bring the car to the rev limiter.

The throttle cable is not sticking. After it started up the first time and shot to the redline once again I went and twisted the throttle rotar to make sure it wasn't stuck.
Check this out:
1. Remove your throttle body
2. Locate the two phillips screws holding the throttle plate in place.
3. Remove the screws, open the throttle, and slide out the plate.
4. Take a sos pad, or mild sandpaper, and clean the entire throttle body inner surface, useing in and out strokes, kinda like sexual intercourse.
5. take the SOS pad and clean the **** out of the throttle plate while it is out. Polish that bitch with some brass/alum. polish.
6. Re-assemble the plate to the TB, only tighteningthe two phillips screws a little bit, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!
7. Re-install you throttle body, spray a oil based lubricant in the throttle cable end, while someone pushes the pedal.
This should take care of your problem. The plates like to stick, and sometimes "carberator cleaner, will not do the trick.
If you have trouble re-aligning the throttle plate, do this:
-slide the plate in, start the screws, hold the assembly up to the light, center the plate, tighten the screws, DO THIS TILL the plate moves freely, and never touches the TB walls.

this may not be your problem but if none of the answers above work this is what happened to me: the guy who owned the car before me had put in aftermarket pedals that are installed with screws. the screws sticking out the back had punctured the carpet and would occasionally stick. i had to cut the screws down. so you might check that.
