Throttle Body Boring and Plate
So I wanna bore my TB out to 64mm. I'm trying to find a TB plate at 64mm. I'm having trouble finding one.
I'm wondering, if I have the TB bored out all the way through and perfectly round at 64mm would I be able to use a 64mm plate at the correct thickness, just have the screw holes drilled out and possible file it down a little to seal correctly? Or is there a method to the design of the plate?

you have to make your own plate. send it here www.maxbore.com before you **** something up
Im aware of maxbore. I have an extra TB to work with so I want to see if I can do this myself for cheaper.
My question still stands though.

I'll sell you one that I have that was done my maxbore if you are interested. I have no use for it. 66mm opening that tapers to a 64mm butterfly IIRC.
As far as I know, in addition to making your own butterfly, you also need to open up the gap width wise in the black bar that holds the butterfly to accomodate the larger butterfly.
As far as making the new butterfly goes, I can't really help you there. You could probably have a chunk of solid SS round bar turned down to 64mm and then get a thin piece cut off by your machine shop, but I'd imagine that by the time you pay them to hone the throttle body out and make a new butterfly for it, you'd probably be pretty close to what George@Maxbore charges.
Good luck.

yeah but maxbore charges more for spacer and upper manifold matching. a machine shop would charge around an hour or so of time. I bet I can get all three done and a new plate for less than $100.
But right now Im pretty broke. I was gonna be able to afford modifying the tb but I think I may need a new cat converter now.
