Are these rods realy from a b16a?
i got a set of rods today with some arp rod bolts, both for $50. the guy told me they are for a b16a but they look a little small to me, maybe cuz i'v never seen b16 rods in person. the number on them is PR3 and then there is an 8. are these realy b16a rods? or did i get screwed?
yup, those are b16 rods, most likely first gen rods.If you are gonna use those, you might want to have them shot peened.Use some old rod bearings and torque the rod bolts to spec before sending them to be shot.
If they were from a newer year motor,im sure the seller would have mentioned it to him.But since bluedelsol didnt mention,i am assuming they might be.I believe all b16 rods are marked pr3.i mentioned shot peening since the rods could be old and since new rod bolts were put in.
Are 1st gen b16 rods stronger than other gen B16A?? Someone told me the 1st gen use stronger materials cuz the 1st VTEC engine developed from Honda they used all the racing materials similar to F1.

so you were just guessing...
all b16 rods ARE marked PR3...
regardless if they are new or old, from what I can compare looking at 1st gen/2nd gen (as I have a set of both pistons and rods sitting right next to me) they look the same.
