Default Thermostat compatibility

Hi all,

I'm using JDM B16A (EG6) and I need a new thermostat.

Can I use the thermostat from any EFI Civic/Integra 92-00?
Quite urgent.

Thanks...

I believe Nippondenso are the OE manufacturer for Honda thermostats; strange that the dealer had two brands. Perhaps for different year models.

Anyway, to clarify:

Is the thermostat for the D-series the same as the B-series? i.e. can I use the part specced for the SOHC engines on my car?

Sorry for the repetition, just wanna be clear...

Thanks again

A small few of Hondas thermostats are larger than others- I would just use a USDM B16 stat- it may even be the same part number- but different numbers could be for different lift amounts at certain temperatures. Just go get one for a VTEC Del Sol and you will be fine.

I jsut bought a thermostat kit for a 99 Si for my 1st gen B16s.. comes with the rubber grommet seal thingy... It was aobut $15 for the thermostat and seal kit.

Plus I picked up a tube of HoNdABoNd!!! <My First :')>

Hi SiR Kid,

Have you done the thermostat replacement yet?

This may sound lame since I have a Helms for USDM Si (my car is JDM EG6 so there are some differences but not in the thermostat location)... but here goes:

When I'm replacing the t-stat, I remove the intake pipe to get at it; then I have to remove the lower radiator hose that connects to the thermostat right? i.e. is the thermostat inside where the hose connects to? I'm quite sure it is, but the helms doesn't show the pic of the hose connected to the housing so I wanna make sure before I start breaking things

Also, is it necessary to have bonding agent e.g. HoNdABoNd when re-attaching the t-stat?

Thanks
