Test Pipe of Hi flow cat?
sup,
im currently in the process of getting rid of my stock cat. im running a comptech 4-2-1 header, and apexi. will a high flow cat make as much power as the test pipe? mainly my plan it so route my header to either a test pipe or high flow cat and then the apexi cat-back. is there a way to bore my stock cat?
- i was also told that i will loose much torque, when will noticable power gains be felt after this modification?> i was told higher speeds, does that mean i will feel power after 40mph? or in the high rpms? ?????
thanks alot

The performance difference between a test pipe and a quality high-flow cat on your application will be negligible. The smell that results from running a test pipe isn't a "rotten egg" smell, the best I can describe it as is a heavy exhaust fume smell. I'd suggest contacting Dave of SMSP about one of his new spun-bodied cats.
In your situation, both a test pipe and the SMSP cat I mentioned above would yield similar gains. I wouldn't recommend gutting your existing cat, because the turbulence generated inside once the catalyst is removed can have negative effects on performance.
I recently replaced my cat with a Test pipe, see sig for my car.
and its smells like somebody poured gas all around my car when I rev it etc..., even freinds have asked why such the heavy smell of gas
The test pipe ( With mine) will make your exhuast sound choppy,
Dout i hepled but thats what mine did, I am even thinking of going to back a cat or a hi-flow cat cuz the exhuast sounds ricer

With Dave's recent testing completed, I'd now go with an SMSP spun-bodied cat. They've proven to flow quite a bit better than the Car Sound's he was previously using, they're metal substrate, and the pricing remains basically the same as the old Car Sound.
