Well just depends on the diameter of the header-to-cat end and the diameter of the piping right after the cat. Personally, I'd buy an aftermarket or OEM cat...all I've heard about test pipes are they are super loud. Unless you need unrestrictive flow for like drag racing or something. I don't think test pipes are best for daily driving.

Cat FTW. Can't see any reason why someone "needs" one unless they are building a race car.

because it is cheaper than a high flow cat. im doing a b series swap from d and the previous owner of my car had most of the exhaust welded.

I'm sure you would be glad you spent the extra $20 for a high flow cat when your ears are bleeding lol

Ah ok, all I've heard about them is that they are way too loud lol. I haven't actually used one before so I can't claim to have an expert opinion So you gonna have to jerry-rig an O2 sensor so you won't throw a CEL all the time?

So you don't need one you're just cheaping out. I'm not a fan of test pipes. Loud, illegal, and bad for the environment. All so people can save a few bucks or scrape up 0.5 hp on a street build.

I have a test pipe. IMO it hasn't gotten all that much louder.
You will have to make a little modification to it. More than likely you'll get code P0420 thrown and if that happens you'll need to buy 2 non fouler plugs and drill one out to 1/2" and put them together and screw it into the bung and put the o2 sensor on the other end. Or you could just clear the code. Up to you.

I'll clear the code if need be, but there's a bung for the o2 sensor in it. Actually, I'm not "cheaping" out, it was like $90, and I'm planning for a turbo in the near future. Now if you are going to stay here and bash me, don't waste your time, I asked for help, not your stupid opinions, go cry about the environment somewhere else.

if you're planning for a turbo you'll want a 3 inch exhaust. so you'll probably replace the whole exhaust anyways.

Test pipe is just an extra obstacle if you ever have to deal with emissions issues later...

Ever stand near a car with a small exhaust leak? It stinks, literally. A test pipe will gaurentee stinky exhaust all the time. If your car is a hatch, that stink will find it's way to your windows quicker than you think. It sounds like your mind is made up already though, something to think about anyways.

This is the most ignorant thing I've read in a while.
When your kids, brothers kids, or family in the future can't breath because we ruined all the oxygen on this planet think of the way your thought process is in this present day.
Look how long we been messing with fuel and compression engines and look at how much smog is in our air. Its only been about a hundred maybe 2 hundred years. Its people like you that can't think past step one.
Now I know why nofx weeps for people like you.

And don't buy a test pipe num nutz go get a piece of pipe welded at a shop I'm sure when you get that pipe off ebay it won't fit and will have to get welded anyway. So your gonna end up with a 90$ peice of metal that's worth 1$
