Default temp gauge not working and throwing code 6(ect sensor) help...

ive switched both the sensors, the one for the temp gauge and the ect sensor and still gauge doesnt work and still throwing code 6... on my old ls vtech setup i was running with no thermostat and it worked fine never had the problem till i put in the gsr.. could no thermostat cause this to happen?

k i just put a themostat in it and the temp gauge is working but its still throwing code 6 check.. the sensor is grounded and i checked the wire from the sensor to the ecu to c if power was going all the way through the wire from the ecu to the sensor and it is but i checked to c if the wire has power with a test light and it doesnt.. it didnt start thrown the check until i put my basemap chip in it... could it just be the chip?
