i traded a j1 tranny with 340 dollars for a y1 with lsd

That's not bad if both trannys were in proper working order.

hopefully your using it in a turbo application. the y1 has a final drive like a LS tranny. the j1 would have a higher final drive which would most likely be better for an all motor application since u want to burn through the gears quicker as opposed to staying in gear longer for the turbo to spool.
