Technical Swap Question... Please Read...
Okay guys, first off thanks for reading the post. Here's the problem... I'm running 00 B18C5 in my 1996 EK hatchback. My frigging "Check Engine" Light will NOT go away. It runs fine, no oil leaks, everything is filled. I came to the under standing that I would need an OBDII to OBDI harness? Some people have said "yes", others "no." Other people say get a new ecu. Who's right?!
As far as I know, the ecu is stock. And I haven't touched any of the wiring harnesses. Please help me out! The light is really starting to bug me. Thanks again and hopefully you guys can solve my problems!

well, i can't help much.... But I know that you don't need an obd2 to obd1 jumper harness. Both your car ('96) and the the ITR motor ('00) are obd2. So, you shouldn't have to convert anything. You could *choose* to convert to obd1....but then you'd need a different ecu.
have you checked to see what code your ecu is throwing? That should point you in the right direction as to where to start troubleshooting.

...exactly.
Have you checked to see what exact ecu code is being thrown by the check engine light? actually the question is, do you even know how to check the check engine light?
Going OBD1 isn't bad at all, its actually an upgrade; because OBD2 ecu's aren't too popular in the reprogramming world (they're a bitch to reprogram). And OBD1 ecu's don't look for the extra sensors that all US OBD2 ecu's/engines have equipped on them. So if you did go OBD1 and you have everything wire up correctly, I bet you wouldn't throw a check engine light at all.
