Default For the TECH here, need help badly!

the gear on my 98 automatic prelude will not select itself, what i mean by it, is that when i'm on drive you know how the gear suppose to just select itself when the rpms hit certain number..well mine would just stay there and the engine just rev up, i would have to like tab the shifter up and down a lil' bit for it to switch, but sometime it switch to a lower gear instead of to the next gear..at the shop they would pull up this two codes: P070 TRANS CONTROL SYSTEM and P0730 GEAR RATIO...does this two codes has anything to do with my problem?

help is appricated..

There's the problem. The tranny control system is faulty or damaged, it's preventing the gears from automatically shifting. Also have you maintained the car yourself or take it to a shop? Replaced the tranny fluid and filter lately? What's the level on the tranny fluid level? within specs?

the car is at the shop, this mechanic fix the tranny, but he now said it's an electrical problem not the tranny..he took it to a dealership and that's the two codes they pull up...but you know his job is just to fix the tranny...so now he left me with all this messed..what's this Tranny Control System about? ..and can it be the Relay outlet inside the shifter box, "console"??

There's a separate ECU that controls your transmission, maybe there's something wrong with it.

Older Hondas have separate units:
ECM = engine control module (everybody here likes to call it an ECU)
TCM = transmission control module

My '98 Accord has them combined into one unit:
PCM = powertrain control module

Maybe your Prelude has them combined also.
