Tachometer on cluster stops working?
My tachometer will work fine but if I drive it for a while it will stop working and the needle will drop down to zero. If I shut off car right away and turn it back on right away it will work again for a while and just repeat. Any ideas? Need help maybe hook up tachometer on side and see if it works?

Or bad wiring, distributor, cluster?
any ideas guys? i would assume if my tachometer on my cluster is bad that it wouldnt be working at all then? but it works everytime i start it up.
finally tried to floor the car, tachometer stops reading at about 3000 rpm, but nothing wrong with motor, its still going but i have no idea after 3000rpm, no CEL lights either, is this something with the tachometer itself? maybe distributor? its a new distributor.
check wiring going to ignitor, usally the tach wire is blue, make sure nothings corroded or loose, but it may just be a faulty cluster, doubt its ignitor or distributor pickups since its new, easiest way is to try and swap clusters with some one to test, only takes a few mintues to remove

it will read everytime the rpms are below 3000 so when im casually driving it and shift gears it will be fine, but when i free rev it or floor it in gear the tach will just stop at 3000, i doubt its a loose connection, haha ebay richporter distributor, what you guys think?
The Vehicle Speed Sensor has nothing to do with this.
Your distributor is what sends signals to the tachometer. As stated early test your ignitor inside the distributor and especially check the connections on the three wires. Awhile back my tach was giving me problems when I would put +80% load on the car the tachometer would start going nuts. What I did is sanded and cleaned the terminals and put a dab of conductive grease on it to assure a good connection.
