Default Syntec Good?

I was in my local performance shop visiting the boyz when I talked to a customer there who says that syntec oil breaks down faster then conventional oil. He says the high end syntec's are good only. I use Mobile 1 syntec in my hyrbrid civic, most people say that syntec is superior. What is this guy talking about? I live in a summer winter climate region so cold weather might be a factor to his answer! Any comments? Thnaks!

Mobil 1 and Redline Oil are ten times better then Syntec in my opinion.

Synthetic is better no matter what way you look at it. It lasts longer, you can go longer without changing the oil (that doesn't mean you don't have to change the filter every 3k) and most off all, it protects your engine more, ESPECIALLY high performance applications where theres allot of heat.

No, synthetic motor oil DOES not break down faster than organic (-conventional).
One major reason is that multi viscosity organic oil contains pastics (polymers) to have the appropriate viscosity for any temperature. This translates to less engine protection because plastic doesn't protect your motor, oil does......

Times have change and no matter how much logic and facts you have, you just can't teach old dogs new tricks. In fact, some people will just resist it all costs..

I don't know about the cheaper brands, but I'm talking about Mobile One.. For the price, I CHALLENGE anyone to find an engine oil that protects better for less than $10/quart......... Castrol makes synthetic,. but it got bad reviews I guess.

I buy Mobile One for 3.99/quart... It lasts over twice as long and protects my engine better.. Why would I use organic? The only thing is about synthetic is you'll want let your engine have good thorough break in before you convert so the rings can seat first.... Synthetic protects too well to let a motor break in properly.
