When the car is fully warm and I shift gears it will stay at the peak rpm for about 2 seconds before it makes its way down and if I dont wait and throw it into the next gear it will kinda jerk. Only when the car reaches its operating temp I get this problem. If I drive it cold or its not at operating temp it drives fine. Also when the car is at operating temp and I let of the accel. I hear alot of popping sounds coming from the exahust. And its not one or two pops. Its multiple pops and sounds horrible. Any ideas?

and i was going home from my university to get it fixed and when i was driving i noticed that my car was shuttering( like when someone stalls a car and its kinda jerky). This only seemed to happen when i was at about 1800 and 3000 rpms. It was so bad that it would make my engine lose all power and it would make back firing sounds...then when the rpms hit 3000 everything seemed fine but when they went back down the problem kept happening!!! So as long as i was about 70 mph
the car seemed to run fine....then when i hit the mountain pass my check engine light came on...oil level is fine and so is all important fluids....CAN ANYONE FIGURE THIS ONE OUT FOR ME PLEASE SO I CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!my car is an 92 accord with a F22A6 engine swap w/ chikara headers

ok well does anyone even know what the symptoms of a bad 02 sensor is.....and then what the symptoms would be for a completely dead o2 sensor

 

well if you had a bad o2 sensor your gas mileage would be lower then usual, your air/fuel wouldn't be correct (lean/rich) If you have a dead 02 sensor you would have a CEL code 1 or 2 or even 61 or 63 if they are heated.

 

im probably stupid, but whenever ive had on o2 sensor fail there were zero driveability problems, just CEL's. everyone is quick to blame the o2

but it does sound exactly like a clogged cat. easy way to check, unbolt the downpipe from the cat and see what happens.

 

well what exactly are the syptoms of a clogged cat??but then would it cause my check engine light to come on

 

Check if the O2 sensor has the correct voltage thats how you can see if its operating the way it should .

ye don't blame the 02 sensor eaither check ignition , timing , cap , rotor , wires ect oh and fuel system should be checkout too for proper function.. sorry if this won't help..
