You better pray that you don't get pulled over in NYC, Yonkers or Rockland. You must live in western NY or really far upstate where Auto Crime Police doesn't exist.

Good luck in your endeavors.
did you even read his first post? he said he wants the original vin off the original motor on the new motor he's building. and I guarantee 98% of cops who looked at the motor with the vin swapped wouldn't know jack **** about it considering it's the same motor, just out of a different car. personally I wouldn't do it just cause it seems pointless to me and probably would cause you a hefty amount of trouble I'd assume.

Because Hondas don't get stolen JUST for a dash. The VIN on the dash is for the chassis, it's just there to be visible. Dashboards also don't have emission systems regulated by the EPA/DOT/etc.

I'm sure mismatching numbers might make it hard to sleep at night, but not as much as a living quarters with a 1" thick matress with a stainless-steel lidless toilet 15" from it. There are handfuls of goverment-types that can't sleep well at night knowing someone who's swapping VIN's for ANY unsanctioned reason is still at large.

One thing about a "numbers matching" muscle car, a motor with "numbers" indicating it was made a few days to months before the car is considered matching numbers.

Wow guys, I didn't ask for a legal debate. I asked how to get the plates off. Not for everyone to tell me how wrong I am for wanting to do something with my own equipment.

I got the answer to my question, just let this thread die already. Sheesh
