Suspension questions
I have a 2000 Civic VP (4dr)
I know very little about suspension (i'm reading up on all the faqs) but I want to know what would be a good choice if i want to be able to drive hard (drifting/road racing[autoX])....I don't really care about ride quality. Most of the time i'll have a 2-12" box in the trunk and a passenger, whenever i'm just cruisin' (maybe this info could be a factor). But when i drive hard i'll take out the subwoofers.
I don't want the low as hell look....maybe a 1"-1.5" gap between the tire and fender. All my friends who have dropped their cars (some all 4" of the coilovers, some with just springs with no fender gap) have had camber problems, thats natural right...but since i'm not dropping it as low, will i have problems.
Right now i'm just buying the spring/coilover/shocks/struts parts. Later i'll be buying the stabilizing bars.
So what should I be considering, what would be the negative effects of dropping the car, what do i do to correct them.
???????????????????
Thanks alot for the help

Well, unless your name is Shoji Shingo, and you were in Inital D, I don't think you'll have to worry about much of a "drift" setup for a FWD Civic.
I'm personally doing Eibach Sportlines and KYB AGX shocks for my car, 93 CX hatch. I'm using the Integra version of the Sportlines for a little stiffer ride, and the AGX's are adjustable shocks. Plus urethane bushings all around, and upper lower bars, ITR sway bar, and camber kits.
A lot of people have a lot of different opinions on what to get. If ride quality doesn't matter, then go with Progress or some other brand that lowers the car like 2.75 inches or lower, and get some firm *** shocks.
You'll also need a camber kit for front and rear to fix the camber, and you'll need to get an alignment to correct camber and toe.
Maybe someone could better answer this question. I'm a little out of it today...

no no no no no, not actually drifting in racing but like for fun.....me and my friend always do it....only once in my car but slowly because of the roll (like 25mph)
those progress i think springs....could they do the drop i want...only like 1-1.5"....i don't wanna serious drop

If you only want a 1-1.5 drop, go Eibach Pro or Sportline.
Or, get coilovers like Ground control or Skunk 2, and adjust them where you want the height.
Or, spend some big bucks and get a Tein, JIC, or other matched suspension.
It's up to you. Again, maybe someone else could elaborate.
