Default suspension question

hey, in my civic i have a really really really cheap set of coil overs (ebay special) with stock shocks/struts. I wanted to get something new, would i be able to get a nice set of shocks like KYB AGX's or Koni yellow's and would they be safe to use with the cheap coilovers, i don't wanna put those in and ruin them. Does anyone else have a setup like this and if so how does it ride? or should i just get all new everything. Feel free to post opinions and expieriences . Thanks in advance

In my opinion the "ebay special" coilovers will kill the ride on any style struts you use. The cost of the KONI struts ( which are great struts ) will be a waste if you use those coil overs. Most companies dont spend the time to really make a good spring rate to match the cars they sale the "slip over" kits for.

If you are willing to spend the money on a good set of strut/coilovers or even a spring rated to match your car slipover kit you will really love the outcome on both the ride and stance of your car.

My opinion Omni for the strut/coilover - and koni w/omni slip overs

PM me if you want any info

Good Luck

how much would a setup like that cost...or would it just be better to go with fully adjustable coilovers like k-sport or something

I'm on a tight budget so i don't wanna spend 700 on a set of coilovers, what if i just went with a good set of lowering springs plus a good set of shocks/struts?

You can find the omnis for 500 shipped, and those are the best coilovers right now in the 4-700 price range.

I think most important is the amount of drop. Only drop the car like 1.5 inches on those cheap coilovers, get some decent struts, and you'll notice a huge improvement.

i don't think i wanna go with coilover's. I wanna get a good spring with good shocks/struts. Does anyone know what a good spring would be to go with...and if so do you have any pics of your car?

I hear eibach springs are really nice. But its basically all preference and/or affordability.

eibachs are nice

btw, my frined has a 98 GSR with Megan Coilover Springs and Tokico Blues and it handles and rides like a dream. its not very stiff, but it handles really well. he takes it to the mountians all the time.. i think it just depends entirely on your spring and shock setup.
