Default suspension Q's

how many of you guys have had your coilover, spring, or sleeve over suspension set-ups done professionally? who did it themselves? Im debating whether or not I should try to install my teins myself. if you installed them yourselves, how was the installation, whats the hardest part. other then the coilovers, what minor parts needed to be replaced, and were not re-usable. here's another n00b question for you guys, If I do decide to get these installed professionally, could I install my camber kit if/when I get it w/o dissasembling the suspension? my coilovers are Tein S.S. w/o upper pillowball mounts. thanks for the future insight, and thanks for tolerating my n00b questions.

thats what I thought, my buddy has a spring compressor and he's replaced springs before. Is the spring removal the hardest part? If so, i think we'll do it..

well if you don't care about your stock springs. Undo your shocks at the shock tower, jack up the car so the springs decompress (I have actually put a jack between the fender and control arm to make sure theres no pressure), and cut the springs in half. Compress the shock and remove the springs. That problem is solved. The bushings in the rear control arm will most likely be mangled gonna have to torch it, to soften the rubber up a little, then I usually take an air chisel and chisel out the metal bushing/pipe outta the middle. just replace the bushings (I used energy suspension control arm bushings) slap on your new suspension and go. The first time I did it, it took me around 5 hours. If you install a camber kit I personally like the skunk2 camber kit (the whole upper control arm with adjustable ball joint) rather then ingalls ones. Hope this helps some

be careful when you take the rear shocks off the lower control arm. they usualy rust straight through.

word das tru it took me and a guy like 3 hours to lower my car and change shocks. and the hardest part was getting past the rusted bolts. so have a breaker bar around and a pipe for extra levearge just incase you cant get the bolts out wit a impact gun

Same here, hardest part of the install was rusted bolts. That and puttting the springs on backwards. And then the missing mount in the front. And then both of the rears blowing the folowing day.

Besides that, cake.
