Suspension Guru's-Ball Joints
OK, Simple question for you suspension GURUS.
I did a P72 Brake Swap this past weekend on my EK, and noticed that the lower ball joint on the driver side is shot. When I attempted to tighten the nut, the whole bolt spins. I managed to get it tight enough that the cotter pin went in, so it isnt going anywhere. But...I have to replace that axle this weekend (and ball joint), and need to know if the lower ball joint (bottom of the steering knuckle) has to be pressed on by a machine shop or what I need to do to change it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I called honda service and the guy was friggin worthless.
Thanks

knock out the ball joit with a hammer.
freeze the new ball joint in the freezer overnight
super heat the spindle then you should be able to push the new one in
easily

"you do not need to get it pressed out. you don't need a vise for these instructions but it will help ( i didn't use one just left it on my workbench). "
Can this be done on the car? my ball joints are getting a little "funky" and i have two new ones on order. I would like to do the work myself if possible.
Also, could a large "C" clamp be used to press them in?
Thanks
Mike

I bought a new ball joint then spent two hours trying to get the old one out, to no avail. So I took off the ball joint boot from the new one and replaced the bad boot on the ball joint on the car.
this worked because my ball joint on the car was fine and I was the one who just ripped the boot.
I cant imagine how I would have removed the ball joint if I had to, I mean it took me two hours to give up!
good luck though, maybe my car was just being stubborn.
