Default SURFACE RUST ON CRANK

HEY GUYS I WANTED TO KNOW PREFERED METHODS FOR REMOVING A SMALL AREA OF SURFACE RUST ON A CRANK, I HAD IT SITTING IN THE GARAGE AND IT DEVELOPED SMALL AREA OF SURFACE RUST THE 2 JOURNALS, ANY SUGGESTIONS?

will this procedure affect the bearing sizing by a tremendous amount?

polishing the crank shouldnt affect it much at all, only if they find it needs to be cut down
