Default Supertech valvetrain problem

Well, not a problem with the valvetrain as such, but i'm having trouble installing my valve spring seats over the top of supertech valve guides.

I just got my head back from the machine shop, they have fitted brand new Supertech valve guides into my head. No when I come to put my valve spring seats over the top of these they do not fit. The outer diameter of the valve guide is greater than the inner diameter of the valve spring seat. I've tries putting a socket over and giving it a gentle tap with a hammer, no luck. The valve spring seat will go on until its about 1mm from the head casting, then it won't go any further.

Anyone got and suggestions to sort this out?

try flipping the valve spring over and see if it fits in that way. Are the springs tight coils sitting at the bottom(head/guide) side of the head and not the other way around and facing the air?

I've tried flipping them over, they still wont go.

The seats are going on so that the flat face of the spring seat would go against the head casting, with the contoured end into which the springs locate facing skyward.

ok, i may be wrong here as i need to pick a set up also, however answer one question for me and you possibly got your answer. do the guides have a stoper on the spring side so they all seat at an exact location? factory ones do not have this. the spring seats may need to be opened up alittle if this is the case.

are they Skunk2 spring seats? if they are they need to be modified to fit. u might as well take the head back to the machine shop so they can machine them to fit.

They're standard valve seats. Looks like i'm going to have to take them back to the machine hop and have them modified.
