SUPER HIGH IDLE WHEN COLD! HELP!
Hey,
i have an 01 integra LS in a 95 honda civic.
When the car is cold, the car idle's very high, around 4k-4500RPM....once its warm, it idle's nice (around 800-900RPM)...what would cause this, and how do i fix this?
Letme know

when the engine is cold, the rpms are suppose to go higher when it starts, but no 4000,****...but if the idle jumps around when it is warm, then your fast idle valve is defected, but look into your fitv...like the dude said above, screw it in

It does not appear that a FITV exists on an '01 LS - can someone confirm that there is indeed a FITV present and that this picture is wrong (otherwise, don't bother looking for it, is all I'm getting at)?
Yeah, I don't know what year they did that. Maybe beginning with OBD-2? The function of the FITV is incorporated into the AICV.
AICV is # 11, so take it off & clean it. Does the newer AICV have stuff inside that comes loose? Maybe it's bad, so cleaning might not help?
Set base idle speed. IF it's the same as my '95, here's how...
Warm up the engine completely. Unplug the wiring from the AICV & use the throttle so it doesn't stall. Carefully release the throttle, the idle will be low. Use the little screw #1 to adjust idle to 450. (Use a good tach, 'cause the one in the cluster might not be very accurate down there.) When you plug the AICV back in, the idle should go up where it belongs.

What he said! I did it on my LS and it worked great. My idle was around 3400 at cold idle, and now it is right around 1200.
