Default stupid question on cylinder numbering

Seems honda/service manual labels the flywheel end as cylinder no. 1. and timing belt end as no. 4. The machine shop labeled pistons 1-4 after boring, and just to make sure, i called them and they number the timing belt ends always as no.1. I just don't want to do things backwards and my helms is at their shop now so is it right that Honda labels the flywheel end as no.1??
