how do you go about doing it? My plugs are gapped @ .036" and i need .030".

Pliers or what?

Press the tip against a hard surface or buy an expensive gapping tool.

ummm a gapping tool w/ feeler gauges is like $4 at a local parts store. not really that expensive. IMO

I mean't the professional ones that give an even clearance between the tip and electrode. I thought they cost more.
My first option was meant to say "Press the tip against a hard surface and use one of those 99 cent ring spacer things." I guess your way isn't bad at all.
