stuck in 4th gear

Default stuck in 4th gear

tranny experts helo car was stuck in 4th gear and wouldn't come out, we finally got it in N but now it will only go in 4th while in N it makes grinding sound i am guessing its metal anyone please help

yeah real funny i am kind of in a daze 1st my vtec opens up makes a hell load of noise and no power, the car is fully built head and block and i do a wopping 160hp and 120 trouqe and now the tranny goes so give me a brake cars=

what tranny and car? have you tried manually dry shifting it (at the tranny) when the car isnt running?

Check the tranny oil level.

Well, if you didn't get the output from your motor you were expecting on the dyno, it could be your tranny was about to go. And your current problem could be that your tranny finally gave out. But check your shift cables if your car has them. I'm unsure of what your car uses to transfer the movement of the shift lever to the tranny. Whatever it uses, make sure it didn't break. If that all looks good, drain your transmission fluid and see if there are any bits of metal in it. Just trying to give you ideas on what to do that doesn't involve dropping the tranny. But I guess if you built the motor yourself, it's probably not that big a deal to take it out and look at it...
