Default stripping a block

I want to get new pistons/rings installed on my LS I know I have to remove the crank is it necesary to replace the bearings or caps? thanks...

thats gonna be alot of work and $$$ to just change the rings and pistons!!!!!

Well first off if you are doing a rebuild I would get new OE main and rod bearings and will only run you about another $200.... I plastigauge every motor I build and it will tell you if you within spec or NOT... If you are out of spec then changing bearings is a must or you are just gonna destroy the crank/block/rods somewhere down the road... It is not necessary to pull the crank just to pull out the pistons but you will also need a new headgasket... The reason I would definately pull the crank is to get the block atleast honed... I personally HATE reassembling a motor that hasn't been overbored with OS pistons but not eveyone wants to spend the money to have that done.... The overboring just gives you nice new clean cylinder walls for the new rings to seat on.... Hope this helps and if you need anything else let me know... Peace
