trying to retap it is going to drop metal shavings into your block.
not good of course.
take off the head and then retap is my suggestion. don't want to chance it any other way, not if it was my motor.

look around on yahoo or google for a heli-coil sparkplug kit you might get lucky with the fix - next time you work on aluminum, use an anti-seize compound.

yes, a heli coil will work, but no matter what, DONT DO IT WITH THE HEAD ON THE MOTOR, youll drop metal into the combustion chamber and chance your entire motor

Get some extra spark plug washers and stack a few up on the plug. There might be enough good threads at the top of the hole to get a snug fit?

but if i take the head off dont i have to get the head resurfaced and the block decked?? how do i prevent the head and block from warpage?? besides i'm trying to aviod doing that, its alot of work and i'll have to buy a new headgasket on a frankstien motor.. has anybody done this with the head still on the block??

You wont have to resuraface the head and it wont warp from taking it off...just detorqe it while removal (if you have to go this route) and it will be fine. If you want to take a chance, you might be able to reuse the headgasket since they are metal on hondas...just use a copper spray on both sides when you reinstall it.
