Default Stripped Oil Pan Bolt! Help Please

Yeah well it screwed in w. my fingers just fine and then went to tighten it and it just kept spining. I did not put alot of pressure on it so it didnt just "strip". I dunno, the worst part is, its not my car. Any suggestions on what i should do other then a new oil pan?

tia

are there threads on the bolt?... could be that it was stripped before (if it was un/re-installed before)... other wise it may have just cracked off the head of the bolt..

Can you get the bolt out?

they make thread inserts if you can get the bolt body out of the hole... they look like cones of tinfoil and you just put them in the hole then put in the bolt and tighten it... usually they work ok and in the case of the oil pan there are enough other bolts that it's not imperitve that they're all super tight....

otherwise it sounds like you gunna be drilling and taping upsidedown... which is fun.

Oversize drainplugs work well.

Then why is he asking about a new oil pan?

I think both theads on the bolt and the pan are screwed. I couldnt get the bolt out so I sunged it up the best I could. Hopefully it wont leak (prolly will leak all the oil then Im SOL) this is his daily drive as well.

I had the same prob b4....
go to ne auto parts store(BRING YOUR PLUG)
-they have these rubber plugs that you stuff in and they have a screw that tightens it up to the oil pan-(cant remember what there called)I used these for a while-and they r reusable....

If you plan on leaving it as it is I'd try and cram some hondabond in there and cross your fingers.
