stripped ball joints... help
okay, so the ball joint threads are jacked and the factory crown nut wont thread on... i want to tow the car to the shop so i can start working on it but the control arm is gonna eat up the wheel if i do that...
so my question is... can i just use a different size nut like a standard size rather than metric and just use the gun to slam it up there? i need to replace the ball joints anyways
any other suggestions would be great. and if you know what size i should use please tell me that too :D
thanks

well a 9/16" would be your next size. It's worth a try I guess. While you're at it, use some thread lock and that cotterpin. It's definitely a temporary/jury rigged solution though.
Put a floor jack under it and wheel it down the driveway...I've driven a tow truck for years done that hundreads of times for cars with broken ball joints. They also make a tool to hold it together which is pretty much a set of vise grips
take off ur steering knuckle get a nice sludge hammer and some c clip pliers if the c clip is there. Ive replaced many that didnt have the clip still intact. Just give it a couple smacks and itll pop out. Go get you a new one and lightyly tap it back in, and your problem is solved. I suggest getting it on lifetime warranty so you can get your other side replaced for FREE!!
