Default Strange revlimit question.

I run a P72'd USDM GSR. I've read that the redline is 8200rpm, but on the tach it only goes to 7800rpm, while sometimes hitting 8200 on occasion. The tach is an AutoGUAGE Monster tach. Is it the tach's fault, or something in the ECU?

the tach shouldnt have anything to do with the fuel cut.

The tach is crap, the ecu gets its signal straight from the distributor. The ecu tripping the fuel cut has nothing to do the the tach.

So it could be the ecu? I have a chipped PR3, and the chip is probably ghetto, but It is suppose to let me rev to 8500. It allows me to rev to 81-8300 according to my vtec controller.

I think I am in the same position as this guy, but you don't have a chip do u? That is the stock rev lim right?

No, in regards to the tach, I'm wondering if it is accurate. I'm pretty sure it doesn't control my rev limit.

unless the tach was attached to a small rectangular box that goes in the floorboard by yer passengers feet, otherwise no.

disconnect the tach and run the car and see if it still happens....if it is wired incorrectly it might have an impact on things. If it still occurs, try swapping the ECU and running.

In theory this is a great idea, but I only have the one tach. Maybe the Diagnostic equipment has an rpm setting.
