Strange Noise
I have a strange thumping on the front left wheel of my car. Its like something is loose but I cant find anything loose. It just knocks a little at random times, usually when I hit a dip but it can happen anytime, even on smooth road. Ive take the wheel off and check the torqe on every bolt and checked wheel clearance, got new tires, new axles, and brakes. It still thumps. I can feel it in the steering wheel and in the floor board. Any ideas? This is as clear as I can be.
Someone suggested it could be a lump in the tire but it doesnt always thump so I wouldnt think this could be the problem.

Check either your upper strut mount (the rubber piece) or the lower fork where the strut slides in. There is a 14mm bolt there. Tighten it.
BTW what kind of suspension are you using? If you are running a sleeve-type "fake" coilover setup then this could very well be your problem.
Good luck.

that rubber piece looks fine and all the bolts are torqued to spec. That 14mm bolt is plenty tight. Im not using coilovers but neuspeed sport springs and tokico blue shocks
check you wheel bearing. or maybe your lower ball joint. to check your wheel bearing put the car in the air and grab the wheel on the top and bottom ond try to push and pull it back and forth if it moves thats it. to check you lower ball joint place a prybar in between the joint and the arm and try to mover the joint if it moved thats it. hopefully that will help.
