Is this a stock ecu?
Im asking because the car ran very rich at the smog place. Just doing process of elimination to find the problem.
Was also throwing a code 17 at the time: Vehicle speed sensor. Maybe that's the cause

Did you have both o2 sensors hooked up properly?

Make sure your vaccum hose to the MAP sensor is on the right fitting on the throttle body. I had a terrible time trying to find out why my friends Rex with a B16 ran rich at all times. Well, come to find out the MAP vaccum hose was connected wrong. Works perfect. But yeah, ECu may also be from an automatic!
Oh, BTW, the MAP fitting is the one on the right side of the trottle body, closer to the valve cover. It is also shorter than the other fitting.

Because of the -901 in the part number and the code 58 on the ROM chip. The 58 designates the code that is programmed in the chip fron the factory, and 58 happens to cross reference to a B16A with auto trans in the '89-'91 EF chassis. I doubt it is the reason for the code 17, though it is possible. The code 17 and the fact it is running rich are linked. Get rid of the code 17 and it should run fine. Fortunately the PR3 is easy for someone with experience to convert to manual.

i think only autos have the extra board too......neways 17 wont cause u to go rich. it sounds like u just didnt hook up the speedo cable to the new tranny when u did the swap. id check ur o2 sensors tho. make sure they are hooked up right even if u arent throwin a code.
just find the speedo cable on the back top area of the tranny and make sure its clipped on and not snapped.

The extra board is for knock sensor control. Also if the VSS is not working the ECU will be in open loop, reading directly from the maps rather than using the o2 sensor signal to control AFR.

the VSS is hooked up right, I verified this by taking the cluster off and watching the pin in the plug spin when I drove the car. I guess I'll send the ecu out to be converted to manual. You guys think this will cure the VSS + running rich problems?

...also the black stamp on the KS board reads "(AT)"
