still ticking after valve lash adjust....help!
so i have been having a ticking noise from my head after a miss shift recently so i had a valve lash adjustment done and its still there....... im wondering now if its a cracked retainer or some other loose part it the head??? the car runs fine so its not a bent valve and i have no power loss it just ticks like a son of a bitch. anyone have a fix for me you something else to try?
the GSR in your sig?
Is it consistent, like a valve tap? Could be a LMA issue as well. Try jumping your VTEC solenoid and see if the noise goes away.

How exactly do you do that? Is it safe to do that with the engine idling? I have a slight tick I'd like to track down myself.
it might try to switch on if you jump the vtec solenoid, you may want to set your idle with a tool or something at around 3500 and then try it...vtec needs oil pressure
screwdriver to hold idle around 2k....unplug VTEC sol and jump to +12v. Should be enough oil pressure to move the timing pistons and engage vtec. Idle will change, but will run just fine.

The LMA's are positioned under the middle of each VTEC rocker arm (8 in all) and keep the VTEC rocker arm from flopping around freely while VTEC is not in use. It makes the rocker arm push against something spring-loaded, like the valves, since the middle VTEC lobe on the camshaft is always pushing against that rocker arm whether VTEC is engaged or not. If one or more LMA's goes bad, it can cause a ticking sound.
