stiff auto shifter
the auto shift lever in my '92 integra used to slide forward and back normally, but now, since my engine swap, it requires much more effort.
It doesn't stick, its just consistantly hard to move. It can't be anything to do with the new engine that i can see. used the same auto tranny, linkage etc.
Any ideas or experience? kink in the cable (looked fine tho). Buggered up the linkage-to-tranny mechanism?

well, i figured it out for myself and i''m posting this for the benefit of any searchers.
To begin the process of elimination, i disconected the shifter cable from the tranny end. I had to remove a chassis crossmember, two engine->tranny stiffeners, and the torque converter housing. Then simply remove a cotter pin, once more bolt and it was free.
The good news was the shifter was still stiff, so the tranny was fine. In fact i can easily move the gear changer pin by hand power, with no shift stick leverage.
So next was to remove the cable from the shift lever end. Two bolts underneath, removed the whole lower dash inside, to get the center console off. Then a little pin/clip, simply, holds the cable attached.
After detachment, i found the shifter free-shifts easily, so its the cable. It feels almost siezed in its sheath. Attaching one end to a vice, i had to put my foot one the bench to get the leverage to slide it.
Gonna order a new one tomorrow, sounds pricey, but it'll be worth it.
And by btw, that cable went downhill FAST.
