Steering problem

I've noticed within the past week that when I rock the steering wheel back and forth slightly, I can hear a clunking or clicking sound under the hood, either with the engine running or not. I raised the front end off the ground and it would not make the noise any more. I tried to see if maybe the steering rack mount bushings were shot but the whole rack seemed tight. I also checked for play in the outer tie rods and they felt tight, as well. Any ideas what could be making this noise? I'm praying it's not an internal problem with the steering rack.

Had a mechanic friend look at it today, said it's most likely inside the rack.
He carries rebuilt racks from a company that uses all Honda seals in their rebuilt Honda racks, and can get it to me for a pretty good price, so I'll probably just end up pulling the rack in the next few weeks.
