state ref inspection
I have a few unanswered questions. Looks like I have to go to the state ref to get my swap checked out before i can get a smog check. I have a b16a1 in my 90 integra.
If I pass inspection, will and aem intake and dc header be legal in my car even with this motor?
What dc header do i have to use with this motor because i have 2 o2 sensors? (nobody has ever been able to answer that for me because the dc header for my car has 1 o2 sensor right before the cat while the stock manifold has 1 on cylinders 1+3 and 1 on cylinders 2+4.)
Ive messed with the motor's internals (cams+springs) should i change the cams back for inspection or will they be able to tell?

ok i had too go too the ref too! basically make sure your engine is newe or the same year as yer car (not jdm) the ref told me yer not supposed too do internals but hes not gonnna check if it passes the sniffer yer cool.. also all the after market mods u have have too be carb approved and for that engine (not the car)
example i have a cx hatchback with gsr engine my intak, headers and whatever else turbo, manifold etc have too be for the gsr. hope that helps!

whats this stuff about no jdm? My motor is jdm and tooqwik1 h-t passed with a jdm b16a5 so why wouldnt I? If thats true then im keeping it a secret. Theres no way Im pulling my motor.
b16a5 is jdm, but usually doesnt have the 5 stamped. sometimes it does. anyways, I have a brochure coming from the state ref with all the details of how to do a legal engine change over so i'll scan it and post a thread in the hybrid section so we can settle this once and for all.
you can pass with the Older B16 1st gen japanese engines..if you use all emmisions parts from the 94 year DEL SOL DOHC Vechile.. since 94 was the 1st year you the B16A did come to out shores....I was told this very Information by the REF station at East Los Angeles College.. basically you have to bring it up to OBD-1 standards along with all emmisions equipment for the 94 year of the DEL SOL B16A... well you maybe be able to pass without all that.. but most refs will Fail you just on the Visual Inspection..if anyone has any info to add or correct please do so.. I love and Hate the REF.. =P.. and I do know a few Bar guys who are Probably the most Corrupt people I know

I'd have to ask hopefully by tomorrow I can give u some information on who to speak to on that matter...I know this year has seen an increase on busting shops for Illegal Smog and repairs..
wait, i have to upgrade to obd-1? The only way that could be legal is to replace most of the components in the car. So I would need a new engine harness, distributor, bla bla bla. Thats some major $$$$. But like I said ive got that brochure coming and ill show everyone what it says. That sounds like bullshit tho and if its true there is no way Im going thru with it. It wouldnt seem to make sense because a 94 delsol ecu is not made for this motor so it could cause problems while the pr3 ecu is made for this exact motor so it should work better.
