Default state ref

Not sure if this is the right section but when going to state ref to get BARed, do I have to run obd 1 harness if the car is an obd 0? Can i run the obd 0 engine harness then inside re wire it to obd 1?

some say you cant run jumper harness's..some say you can.. i would personally try it..its obviously a hell of alot easier than swapping dash/engine harness for obd1 **** that...just maybe hide the jumper the best you can somehow we someone who has done this already?? help this guy out

i also have questions about the state ref. Q1: Would a police officer still send you to the ref even though you have carb plates and stickers?

Q2: Would they send you for an exhaust system without a carb plate?

also post any other modifications that would make a police officer send you to the ref.. thanks

I think it's a new law, they just passed it this year. And yea my integra doesn't have a jumper harness but the wires were all cut up and tampered with to run obd 1 harness. I'm not sure what exactly has been done to it but theres no jumper harness and the car is obd0. The plugs inside the car is pink so yea. And dynamic autosports done the work.

i made my crx pass the ref with just an obd jumper. the ref had me take out the ecu to show him that it was the correct obd1 p30 from a 94 del sol, but he didn't even look at the wiring. to make the car pass i also had to wire in an obd1 distributor.

the cops will send you to the ref for anything in Cali. i got pulled over for a CHROME muffler. then he made me pop my hood and pointed out anything that was shiny. he didnt even notice the swap... i have a friend that got rolled in his Integra and all he has is a MSD ignition with a carb #, but he still had to go to the ref.

i got sent to the ref for a fuel rail, fpr, intake, a carb legal DC Sports Header, and a nitrous kit(without the bottle in the car)... they can send you to the ref for an exhaust if they feel that it is too loud. the ref is the only one who can dB test it for you legally. i went to a local exhaust shop who has a dB tester, because i was told by the cop to do that to just get that part of the ticket signed off, and they wouldn't accept that as proof tht my exhaust wasn't too loud. i think the whole exhaust thing is crap because you are pretty much guilty until you prove yourself innocent. like i said before, the cop used my exhaust as a reason to pull me over, not because it was too loud but for the fact that it was chrome...

And the fact that check points are supposed to be used for checking for drunk drivers, this cop that gave me a ticket used it for modified exhaust/intake? wtf....

The car has to be fully functional and running. By fully functional, I'm refering to items like the brakes and such. The power steering and AC are not required to safely drive down the street.

As for using a "conversion loom", just give it a try. When I got my B18c engined civic through the referee, he didn't even look at the ECU (or the wiring there).

When you go to the Referee, don't make up any stories (they have heard them all), just don't offer information that you don't have too.

Wes</TD></TR></TABLE> Cool, one more thing, i got a ticket for exhaust and intake and was sent to the state ref. When I schedule my appt do I tell them I want to get my exhaust/intake signed off and get my motor BARed? or should i try going there to get my exhaust/ticket signed off and hopefully they wont notice the motor swap?

when I went in for my b16 I had a conversion harness that definately did not look stock. The first ref said he'd have to check with his boss to see if it was okay because he said it was "modified emissions equipment." however when his boss checked it out he said it was fine. THis was at evergreen college smog ref.
