starting question please help

starting question please help
sometimes when i go to start my car i can turn the key and have to hold it there for like 4 seconds. what does that mean. and how can i fix it. its only getting worse i have a 93 honda civic coupe. thankyou

i forgot i hold it there and it doesnt do anything before it start to turn over so its like turn the key nothing then wait for a little bit then it goes. so. i need some opinions on whats wrong
