Default starting problems when cold

hey guys i just swapped a d16y8 into my '91 hatch with a rywire harness, p28 ecu, and d16z6 dizzy... never had any problems until about a week ago when it just started having problems starting when its cold... it will crank for a while before it slowly starts to fire until it starts up... if i press the gas it wont even fire at all- just crank... and after its warmed up it will start up fine but sometimes act as if theres way too much fuel in the combustion chambers... itll take a few seconds to clear up though... my guess is that its just getting flooded really easily, but im not sure... i can sometimes smell gas after cranking for a while... any ideas on what could be causing this? thanks
-Josh
