Default starting problems....please help!!

I have a 92 civic with a 94 JDM GSR motor in it. The motor is in the car for a year now with no problems. But there was this one time last year where i accidently stalled the car when i was starting from a light. I tried cranking the car over but it wouldn't start. But than when i completely shut the car off (turned iginition completely off to the point where you can remove the key) and than treid again, it fired. Well one year later, today, the same thing happened to me. I accidently stalled the car from a standing start when i tried starting it, it wouldn't start. Again, i completely shut the car off and tried starting it. It fired and than when i gave it gas, it quickly stalled. I tired firing it again and again with no luck of starting it. After couple of mintues i stopped and let the car sit for a min or 2 and tried again. On the first crank, it fired....just like normal. Nothing unusual. What can be wrong with my car? When it stalled, it felt like that the motor was either flooded with gas or not getting enough air.

I forgot.....new plugs, wires, fuel filter, and type-R fuel pump were installed when i got the motor last year.

definatly sounds like something on the Fuel circuit, if the thing fires, you got ignition, if it starts, you got fuel.. if it stalls/starves while applying the pedal... you got a fuel problem.. everytime you initiate the key, you start up the fuel pump, thus achieving enuff fuel pressure.., step on the gas, pressure is not good enuff and car stalls... look at the fuel 'feedback" system.. check the regulator, and the hose... does the fuel tank have any physical damage??

No...the fuel tank is fine....nothing unusal about it. It's seems to be running fine for the pass few days with no more problems. I can actually recall this happening to my firend's type-R. He spun it on the track and stalled it. Couldn't start it for a little while. But if he turned the key off completely and tried again, it fired! This actually happened to a couple of my friends that drives type-Rs.

Check your main relay switch - this was my problem - a Honda mechanic told me the only weak point was the relay and he was right although in my case it would not start at all sometimes and if you left it a few moments it would be fine - also it may be the immobilisher if you have one fitted.

Where is this main relay swtich? Also, my friend is telling me that my car smells like there is something burning whenver i am pushing the car hard with no visible smoke of any kind coming out of my exhaust. Could i be running too lean? There is no performance lost at all, the car would pull hard up to redline. Please help!

The main relay was and is a common problem on these model hondas. I witnessed these same symptoms and the relay repaired it. Either way, that main relay is gonna go eventually so for $50 and .5 hours of time you might as well replace it
