Default Starting Problems after DIY valve adjustment.

About two weeks ago i hunkered down in the garage and did the DIY Valve Adjustment. i adjusted everything into spec; checked over clearances / tq. ratings all that like 800 times. car started up just fine, no more valve tick, i was pretty excited

the next morning i went to go start my car for work, and it took about 10-15 more cranks than usual to start my car. i thought it was weird but my car was running after that perfectly.

today, when i got in my car to come home from work, when i went to start my car, it cranked once and then just stopped. when i tried to crank it again, it was like my starter had died. no clicking, no turny-turny. nothing. took the key out, looked inside the engine bay for loose wires / blown fuses and what have you. went back in the car, and it started up just fine.

my question is if any one else has had starting problems and the like after doing a valve adjustment. i read in another topic on this that turning your crank clockwise is a bad move, but didnt hear anything about damage because of it. i know that for the most part, i turned the crank counter-clockwise when i was doing the adjusment but went clockwise to make sure that i was at TDC and all that.

thanks.

Ben

Check you battery and alternator. Also did you install the spark plug wires in the correct order?

Check to see if your starter's ground wire fell off, happens to me quite often... annoys the hell out of me.

Make sure pos and neg connections are tight on battery. Also have some one test your battery, battery only last so long.

i take it 2nd gen (according to his SN) might me a 2G CRX. If it's OBD0 it doesnt matter if you reset the ecu because it dosent learn anything... it's retarded

having a main relay go bad sucks

but having the harness ground loose sucks even worse
check to see if your harness ground is loose, it is located on the thermostat housing. If this is loose YOUR CAR WILL NOT START, the fuel pump wont even prime.

2 hours of troubleshooting one time trying to figure out something that simple SUCKS
