Starting problems
Hello I have a 94 Accord stock to the bone, like a year ago I replaced the stater and solenoid on it because it was giving me a hard time starting it and it worked. Yesterday night when I tried to start it I could not get it to crank, and my friend jumped it and it started in a breeze. Ran for a while so it would charge the battery and this morning it cranked, but with a lot of difficulty, checked the batery and it has 14.3 V, is their a way to check how much power the starter is receiving? Or test if the starter is the problem?
Thanks
Thanks
14.3 volts is too much for a battery, unless you checked it with the engine running. A battery in good shape should have 12.8+/- 0.1 volt or so. You might have shorted plates or a sulfated battery.
I would have the battery tested at your friendly local auto parts store. If it comes up OK, i would check the power and ground cables off the battery for corrosion, breaks, brittleness, etc, and check the starter solenoid wire(s) for the same.
