Hey everyone,

In advance, I apologize if there's a thread extremely similar to this. If it exists: I couldn't find it.

Anyways. I drive 1982 Honda Civic 1500dx

I've experienced this stalling problem twice. Both times: the oil light and battery light flash on suddenly. After they turned on I began to decelerate. When I applied the gas the car actually slowed down. It felt as if it was being pulled back.
The first time: the car died entirely and I had to push it the rest of the way home (uphill). The second time I was able to save it by switching into neutral and revving the engine. The car then proceeded to perform normally.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to what might be happening?

It's a manual if that helps.

I'm not familiar with carburetors but that sounds unusual so I wonder if it's related. Found this troubleshooting guide for them: http://www.championparts.com/carb_troubleshooting_guide.pdf

How did you get it running again after the first time it happened?

 

I took it to a mechanic who claims they tuned the carb and played with fuel lines. But it's still happening now. To restart the vehicle all I need to do is turn the key again. Thanks for the reply and the link btw.

Oh sorry. After the first time: pushed car. Then towed it. After a day I tried to start it and it started up just fine. Then took it to the mechanic.
