SRS - Simple questions
94 Civic Del Sol
If SRS activated, does the SRS module (of course the airbags need to be replaced) need to be replaced.
If so, can I use an SRS module out of a 93 Del Sol? The 93 has driver side bag, the 94 has driver and passenger.

Your right both the cowl and dash sensors are in the module, [SRS unit] in right side of drivers footwell.
So I am not sure if like other cars that have sensors behind the grill that must be replaced, [damaged or not] is the case with sensors built into the SRS unit, I would check with your local body shops, or insurance company .
Here ICBC, [B.C. gov. insurance] mandates sensors that trigger airbags must be replaced, [damaged or not] but the SRS unit does not, [if not damaged].
Maybe it's just an ICBC thing to cover their asses, they also mandate only brand new parts be used if it has anything to do with the airbags. 9

Is there a way to tell by looking at it, if an SRS unit module has activated (deployed the airbags)? Otherwise how will I know? I'd hate to hook it up and have it still be in a state of deploying airbags and blow all of my new bags,,lol.

SRS units double as "black boxes" Once they deploy the bags, they record the event and are typically not reusable. There are companies that claim they can reset the units, but I have no experience with them. Google is your friend....
SRS boxes are reusable in most cases, some of them have a G-sensor built in to the housing. Once those trip, replace the module.
Most cars today have crush sensors remotely mounted that MUST be inspected and replaced in the event of a deployment. The module is not affect in MOST of these applications. Reference a service manual to determine this.
On a side note, mid 90's Toyota's require periodic SRS inspections. Toyota training does not elaborate if this impairs safe operation or not. I have seen both instances deploy the airbag.

Sensors never need to be replaced unless they are physically damaged
I am not positive on how the older modules work but I know newer Hondas ~02 and up need new modules after airbag or seat belt deployments.
One way to check if the module is reusable is hook everything up and check for codes, if the codes for the airbags that blew are stored and will not clear you will need a new module. If there is a airbag light on and no codes you need a new module.

Good luck

*For clarification what I stated may not apply at all to obd1 vehicles. In which case you may be completely correct.*
