sputtering before 3k rpms
just a stock 93 civic LX
only does it everyonce and a while but it will sputter up to 3k then once it hits 3 it pulls just fine. i have new spark plugs, fuel filter, i dont know if it would be in the dizzy. but it only does it everyonce and a while.
any ideas?

mine kinda does something similar........it doesnt sputter just feels like its held back a little then something lets loose and feels more powerful under regular driving......it does this off and on, but not sure what it causing this.........
Same here, just like as described above. Im gonna try to advance the timming and up the fuel pressure and see what happends. I noticed mine doing the same thing....

i advanced mine.......still does it........it drives fine, just feels a little held back. kind of hard to explain.......then it feels more smooth and freed up.......ill have to figure something out.
Double check your distributor cap and rotor also. Make sure the rotor screw is tight and that the contact area on the rotor and cap are in good condition. I have seen these symptoms before and have traced it to that a few times. This is not a garunteed fix but it has been the problem a few times on different model Hondas.
Only takes a few minutes to check.

How old are the wires, cap, and rotor? Does it happen more if it's wet out? Are the wires in the factory looms? I've seen this happen from old wires that leak voltage either to ground or crossfire.
Check grounds on battery and other heavy cables in the electrical system. Could be running low voltage and it picks up when the alternator spins up fast enough to give good 13+ volts.

might be the TDC sensor on your distributor mine is fucked up right now doing the same exact thing but now the whole rev range it started out like yours, it only gets worse, dont do what i did and go get a 250 dollar ignitor
Well i have a JDM B16A.....original wires plugs and cap and rotor.......i changed the cap and rotor like a week ago.....still does it. I have new NGK wires on the way and i just got my NGK iridium plugs. I will install these items when i do my cam change. If it still feels like this i will suspect the TDC sensor or maybe even the knock sensor......i think it only does this around the lower RPM range below 4K i think. If I gun it from a stop you dont notice it, but if your just cruisin and apply a little more throttle slightly then you notice it.
well i put new NGK wires, NGK Iridium plugs, and new cap and rotor........still in the lower RPM it feels held back then it all the sudden feels free.......hmmmmm
Must be a honda thing. Mine does the exact same thing. It feels like the car is lagging off and on up until 3 k then from that point its all good. Humm... and every once in a while it seems like the motor wants to stall.
mine doesnt want to stall at all.........must be something in dizzy or knock sensor is sending signal to ECU and timing is being retarded here and there.....it does this under normal driving conditions and when i apply slight throttle pressure.
If you've replaced your plugs, wires, cap and rotor and still have problems - check your ignition timing. This hesitation can very easily be caused by ignition timing being off by a few degrees. It's the easiest/cheapest next step in troubleshooting.
mine is getting worse, used to be in just 1st gear and some of second, now its 1-2-3 and doing it more often. im gonna go through all my wires and cap/rotor se if thats the problem
i have the same exact problem as you with my jdm b16a...it feels laggy when ur not punchin it from like 2-4grand then straightens out. I dont want to just go and buy a bunch of parts to upgrade, just cause, anyone figure out the root of this evil?

happens to my car as well, and the car before that. LOL. Has to be a honda thing. I currently run hondata, and wasnt tuned great for partial throttle(i ran outta money), and it does exactly what youre talking about, especially when foggy outside
