Default Spun bearing questions

Everyone tells me this is probably what I did to my engine d16y8. I was running low on oil now I have a loud knock around 2500k. it still got me home.

I have a d15b7 block at the house that is my backup.

Its is possible for a backyard mechanic to fix this problem? I've checked out the hazone.com's tear down of the bottom end of the motor and it didnt look to bad. I have air tools to help my out.

Here are my ghey questions

1. Is the bearings that screwed up on the crankshaft?
2. How difficult is it to get to and replace?
3. Would my d15b7 bearings fit on this d16y8?

The bearing you spun is a rod bearing. It is on the crankshaft on the inside of the big end of the rod. There is a good chance that you scored the rod journal on the crank as well, so just thowing a new bearing on there won't be a permanent fix. You might as well rebuild the motor-all new gaskets and seals, bearings, thrust washers , piston rings, etc. Have the crank checked out and repaired at a machine shop. If this sounds like something you want to tackle, go for it.

another dumb questoin

if I just replace the rod bearing how long will that fix hold normally? Am I lookinging at loss of power or loss of reliablilty or what? I'm broke off my *** right now.

Is it just a waste of time to replace the rod bearing cause it wont make a week?

Am I gonna need a engine lift to change the rod bearings? Could I just lift the car and come up under it and put on a new bearing?

u could just take off the oil pan but the crank is prabobly damaged and as to be fixed this wont be a good thing unless u fix it the right way(take out the crank and get it fixed at a machine shop). Good Luck

You are sooooo wrong for suggesting that. LOL I would be pissed if I got a rigged motor.

Id say if its a stock engine with high miles throw that piece of crap away and get urself a new 1. good luck
