Spring Rate/Tein question...
I contacted Tein regarding custom spring rates and dampening. I am looking at the Tein SS but the spring rates are only Front 448 lbs/in & Rear 336 lbs/in.
I asked about changing the spring rates and they told me I can change the rate + or - 2 kg/mm before I have to have the shock revalved to match that spring...after 10 minutes of searching for a calculator to do this for me I figured it out myself...multiply the kg by 56 and you have the conversion for lbs. so technically I can have them put on springs that are 112lbs/p inch more stiff without revalving sooo...560lbs/in. front and 448lbs/in. on the rear...hmm, interesting, the differance between the front and rear is the same as the magic number they gave me earlier.
I think I'm going to order mine directly from them and just have a custom spring rate and damper force set to my specs but now I just have to figure out what spring rate I want?!!! Too stiff and I may regret it (so will my teeth), not enough and I won't like it....decisions, decisions.
I have not played with enough spring rates on an Integra to determine how stiff I actually want to go...I autocross some (planning on getting involved much more) and constantly doing mountain runs (N. Georgia) and hopefully some track time also (I live 10 minutes from Road Atlanta). I will be installing a 6 point roll cage within the next few weeks (keeping full interior though) and have plans to update the rear sway bar and probably a tie bar (Looking for a Carbing Type 2 front strut bar also, or I may just make it myself). As you can tell, I'm building it to handle...its 1/4 mile days will be over soon.
Any suggestions on the spring rates, especially with the upgrades I have planned?
